Meet the Red Dog Team
Mike and Fredi Angel
Mike and Fredi Angel are the founders and owners of Red Dog & Company.
Mike could not have made his miraculous recovery let alone his first chair without the love and support of his loving wife Fredi. Not only does Fredi keep the team fed, take furniture orders and ensure the smooth running of the company but she was instrumental in establishing the finishing process and provided feedback essential for setting up our state of the art finishing booth.
In case you are wondering, Red Dog was a beloved family pet who enjoyed laying in the wood shavings at Mike's feet while Mike worked on his first pieces. Mike felt it was only fitting to name his company after his loyal four-legged friend thus the name Red Dog & Company was born. Although Red Dog is no longer with us his legacy lives on in the beauty and craftsmanship of each piece created by our fine craftsmen.
Mike and Christie Angel
Mike (Kelly as he is known to some) is Mike's son and recently retired from a 25 year career in federal law enforcement. He is once again following in his dad's footsteps and is learning the woodworking trade under the careful toolage of his dad.
Christie's official title is "Red Dog Social Media Girl" and joins us after a 25 year career in the finanical and technology industries. If you have an issue accessing the site, wish to have additional product information or suggestions for product or site improvement, Christie's your girl!
Mike and Christie's friends tease that they are the modern day version of the 1960's sitcom Green Acres which culminated in Mike's purchase of a tractor just 2 months after retirement. Truth be told Christie is increasingly adapting to the slower pace and loves the life they are building on Angel Acres. They have 3 adorable kitty cats (Maxine, Marmalade and Sable.) We hear Mike and Christie rescued them but rumor has it that it is really the other way around!
Richard was born in Leslie County, in the Appalachian mountains of eastern Kentucky. He has always been fascinated by wood, whether it was climbing trees, gathering firewood, or working alongside his dad in the woodshop.
A talented artist in his own right Richard joined Red Dog & Company after a year as the Artist in Residence at the Appalachian Artisan Center in Hindman, Kentucky.
When he is not crafting fine Red Dog & Company furniture, you can find him in his own workshop, Wooden Tricks turning beautiful wooden bowls. He also has a passion for cast iron cooking and has every Lodge pot known to man. We are not exagerating when we say that Richard's smoked ribs are the finest you will ever eat!
Richard is married to his lovely wife Shannon with whom he shares 3 beautiful daughters: Brittiny, Tori and Ryanne.
